DESCRIÇÃO DO PROJETO / PROJECT DISCRIPTION
"O projeto do Ponto C - Cultura e Criatividade não é apenas um novo espaço da cidade de Penafiel. É um espaço que veio contribuir para uma mudança no urbanismo da cidade. Uma nova entrada e uma nova relação com a zona sul, permitindo a possibilidade de expansão de uma forma estruturada, deixando cair a frase que durante anos ecoou como “a cidade da risca ao meio”. Uma nova relação de proximidade com o centro histórico: o que era “atrás" é agora frente cuidada, voltada para a Praça de S. Martinho.
Esperando uma grande volumetria, e atendendo à diferença na topografia existente, esta esconde-se entre o esverdeado plantado e magnólias. É notória a presença do edifício antigo dando lugar a novas texturas e funções; no entanto, o que sobressai é a imposição da sua cor: o verde, esperando, com o tempo, confundir-se a cada dia que passa com a vegetação envolvente. A cortiça projetada é vista de forma diferente, dependendo do ângulo e da luminosidade, como se de várias interpretações de uma peça artística se tratasse.
O edifício desenvolve-se em quatro níveis. O piso -2, técnico, onde se situam as cargas e descargas sem colidir com outros percursos. Circuito autónomo, com capacidade de levar o que é preciso através de monta-cargas aos quatro níveis.
A seguir, piso -1 e piso 0 a servir o público. O piso 0, piso de entrada principal, diretamente ao foyer, mostra-nos a bilheteira e o acesso às duas salas disponíveis: o Auditório e a Casa da Caturra. Mais privado, ainda temos os camarins e o posto de segurança de todo o espaço. No piso -1 podemos contemplar o espaço de exposição, acedendo à cafetaria e à primeira plateia do auditório, bem como a uma relação direta com o jardim, auditório exterior e o percurso voltado para o Cavalum.
O piso 1, apenas técnico, com acesso direto ao catwalk do palco principal.
Se a praça de receção remete para um tapete de boas-vindas que nos leva e preenche no interior, o auditório contrasta com o exterior e veste-se a rigor, onde o tom avermelhado aquece o lugar que está à sua espera. "

"The Ponto C - Cultura e Criatividade project is more than just a new space in the city of Penafiel. It contributes to a transformation in the city’s urban fabric. A new entrance and a new connection with the southern area allow for structured expansion, putting aside the phrase that echoed for years as “the city split down the middle.” A renewed proximity with the historic center: what was once “the back” is now a carefully designed front, facing Praça de S. Martinho.
Anticipating a large volumetric presence and considering the difference in topography, the building hides itself among planted greenery and magnolias. The presence of the old structure remains, giving way to new textures and functions; yet what stands out is the boldness of its color: green, which over time is expected to blend gradually with the surrounding vegetation. The projected cork appears differently depending on the angle and light, as if offering multiple interpretations of an artistic piece.
The building unfolds across four levels. Level -2 is technical, where loading and unloading occur without interfering with other circulation paths. An independent system allows deliveries to all four levels via freight elevators. Levels -1 and 0 serve visitors. Level 0, the main entrance floor, leads directly to the foyer, showing the ticket office and access to the two available venues: the Auditorium and Casa da Caturra. More private areas include dressing rooms and the security post for the entire space. On level -1, visitors can experience the exhibition space, access the café and the first tier of the auditorium, and enjoy a direct connection to the garden, the outdoor auditorium, and the pathway leading to the Cavalum.
Level 1 is purely technical, with direct access to the catwalk of the main stage.
If the reception square acts as a welcoming carpet guiding visitors inside, the auditorium contrasts with the exterior, dressed formally, where deep red tones warm the space awaiting its audience. "
