DESCRIÇÃO DO PROJETO / PROJECT DISCRIPTION
"A Casa PI é uma moradia unifamiliar localizada na zona urbana do Porto, projetada para harmonizar a envolvente urbana e destacar-se como um elemento de esquina significativo, finalizando uma sequência de moradias em banda. Esta proposta responde tanto aos desejos do requerente quanto à necessidade de integração com o contexto arquitetónico circundante.
A moradia desenvolve-se em dois volumes distintos, respeitando os diferentes tempos de intervenção e criando uma relação equilibrada entre o existente e o novo. No alçado nascente, a alteração é mínima, limitando-se à mudança de cor, enquanto o alçado poente apresenta uma linguagem arquitetónica distinta, com vãos maiores e menos rígidos, abrindo completamente o rés-do-chão para o exterior e fortalecendo a relação interior/exterior. Este alçado dialoga com os edifícios multifamiliares vizinhos, estabelecendo uma conexão visual mais próxima.
No alçado norte, as duas linguagens encontram-se, resultando um momento de transformação que une o existente ao novo. A fachada ventilada do piso superior e a continuação da parede existente no rés-do-chão criam harmonia formal. No piso 1, a abertura de uma porta de acesso ao exterior reforça a ligação entre interior e exterior, sendo o único ponto de rutura do alçado norte. No piso 2, uma janela de batente da instalação sanitária está localizada atrás de um painel perfurado da fachada ventilada, permitindo a entrada de luz e circulação de ar sem comprometer a privacidade visual.
A garagem, essencial para a moradia, é integrada no muro de vedação, abrindo-se para a Rua Santo Tirso e permitindo o acesso do automóvel ao interior. Uma longa janela no alçado poente da garagem proporciona luz natural e ventilação.
O interior da Casa PI é organizado ao longo de um eixo longitudinal marcado pela caixa de escadas, claraboia e vitral, que distribui os espaços. O hall de entrada, situado em um dos extremos do eixo, leva a um corredor que se abre para a área social composta por sala de estar, sala de jantar e cozinha, além de uma pequena instalação sanitária de serviço. A caixa de escadas conecta ao piso superior, onde se encontram dois quartos, um escritório e uma instalação sanitária comum, bem como ao piso -1, que abriga a lavandaria e a garagem.
A localização da caixa de escadas junto à parede sul e a presença de um ponto de luz zenital garantem uma iluminação natural eficiente, beneficiando a moradia cuja orientação solar é limitada.
A construção nova será dotada das mesmas características térmicas e acústicas do edifício existente, com paredes exteriores isoladas pelo interior e acabadas com placas de gesso cartonado. As paredes exteriores desenterradas serão construídas com bloco térmico e sistemas ETICS pelo exterior. A fachada ventilada em fenólico será aplicada no piso 1 da ampliação, incluindo um painel perfurado na fachada norte para iluminação e ventilação.
A cobertura existente manterá a telha cerâmica, enquanto a ampliação terá uma cobertura plana.
Este projeto não só atende às necessidades do proprietário, mas também respeita e enriquece o tecido urbano do Porto, criando um exemplo de integração arquitetónica moderna e funcional."
"Casa PI is a single-family residence located in the urban area of Porto, designed to both harmonize with its urban surroundings and stand out as a significant corner element, concluding a row of terraced houses. The proposal addresses the client’s wishes while also integrating seamlessly into the architectural context.
The house is developed across two distinct volumes, respecting the different periods of intervention and creating a balanced relationship between the existing structure and the new addition. On the east elevation, changes are minimal—limited to a color update—while the west elevation features a distinct architectural language with larger, less rigid openings. The ground floor opens entirely to the exterior, reinforcing the interior/exterior connection. This elevation engages in a closer visual dialogue with the neighboring multi-family buildings.
On the north elevation, the two architectural languages converge, resulting in a transitional moment that unifies the old and new. A ventilated façade on the upper floor and the continuation of the existing wall on the ground floor create a sense of formal harmony. On the first floor, the introduction of a door to the outside strengthens the indoor-outdoor relationship and marks the only rupture in the north façade. On the second floor, a casement window from the bathroom is placed behind a perforated panel of the ventilated façade, allowing light and air to pass through while preserving visual privacy.
The garage, an essential component of the residence, is integrated into the boundary wall, opening onto Rua Santo Tirso to allow vehicle access. A long window on the west-facing wall of the garage provides natural light and ventilation.
The interior of Casa PI is organized along a longitudinal axis marked by a staircase, skylight, and stained glass window, which distribute the interior spaces. The entrance hall, located at one end of the axis, leads to a hallway that opens onto the social areas—living room, dining room, kitchen—and a small guest bathroom. The staircase connects to the upper floor, where two bedrooms, a study, and a shared bathroom are located, as well as to the basement level, which includes a laundry room and the garage.
The placement of the staircase along the southern wall and the presence of a zenithal light source ensure efficient natural lighting throughout the house, which benefits from limited solar orientation.
The new construction will share the same thermal and acoustic characteristics as the existing building, with external walls insulated from the interior and finished with plasterboard. Below-grade exterior walls will be built with thermal blocks and finished with ETICS systems on the exterior. A phenolic ventilated façade will be applied to the first floor of the extension, including a perforated panel on the north façade for light and ventilation.
The existing roof will retain its ceramic tiles, while the new extension will feature a flat roof.
This project not only meets the client’s needs but also respects and enhances the urban fabric of Porto, serving as an example of modern and functional architectural integration. "
