PROJECT DESCRIPTION
"Located in the natural landscape of Gerês, this holiday home underwent an interior renovation aimed at restoring its vitality and functionality, while respecting its original identity and the spirit of the place. The intervention was guided by the intention to create a more welcoming space, adapted to seasonal living, where simplicity and comfort take precedence.
The project adopted a contemporary approach with subtle elements that reference the home’s former identity, in an attempt to reinterpret the traditional “country house” in a light and modern way. The goal was to strike a balance between modernity and memory, creating serene spaces, free from excess, and deeply connected to the surrounding nature.
The palette of materials and colours was carefully chosen to reflect this vision. Neutral and soft tones were selected to enhance a sense of calm and timelessness. Natural fabrics such as linen and cotton, wood finishes, and crafted elements bring authenticity to the space, promoting an intimate and uncomplicated atmosphere.
The reorganization of the interior spaces aimed to optimise the home's functionality, enhancing flow between different areas and favouring natural light. The formal language is restrained, with simple and discreet lines, yet attentive to detail and material consistency. The result is a cohesive environment, where every element comes together in a subtle and harmonious way.
All furniture in the house was custom-designed, acting as a natural extension of the architecture. Each piece was conceived specifically for the space, ensuring full integration with the materials, scale, and design language of the project. This approach allowed for a coherent and curated identity, where aesthetics and function go hand in hand. Lighting was developed in collaboration with a lighting designer, providing technical and atmospheric solutions tailored to different times of day and the desired mood in each area of the house.
More than a decorative intervention, this interior renovation represents a thoughtful update of a holiday home, designed to meet contemporary needs for comfort and informal living. The result is a house conceived for rest and disconnection, where simplicity and context define the experience — in perfect alignment with the landscape and rhythm of Gerês."
