Corten House III

photography by Ivo Tavares

Corten House at Night, an HPA project, 2025
A radiant retreat that reposes in perfect harmony with the landscape. Captured in the tranquility of twilight, this panoramic view reveals how the full transparency of its glass expanses and the camouflage of the green roof unite the sophistication of the interior design with the vastness of the surrounding nature.

About this photograph

Nestled into the topography and embraced by vegetation, this contemporary retreat masterfully blends with the horizon. Captured in 2025 at Corten House — a remarkable project by HPA atelier —, this night view reveals the profound essence of the design: absolute respect and symbiosis with its environment.
The roof slab, crowned with a verdant roof, acts as an organic extension of the terrain itself, almost invisible in the landscape. Below this earthen boundary, the minimalist Corten steel structure frames the impressive glass expanses that dissolve the house's physical barriers. The warm, inviting light flooding the living and dining areas creates a 'magic box' effect, where domestic comfort directly contrasts with the cool serenity of the blue hour.
The natural setting exudes pure poetry. The rustic trees in the foreground anchor the composition, while the eye is inevitably drawn through the house's transparency towards the background. In the distance, the dramatic silhouette of the mountain under the evening sky reminds us of the grandeur of the setting. An exceptionally profound photographic piece, perfect for spaces seeking to balance architectural modernity with the natural world.
