School I
photography by Ivo Tavares
São Bernardo School, TECTONIC ART Project, 2020
A dramatic interplay of light and shadow that transforms the playground into a cinematic scene. In this work, the dynamic silhouettes of children in motion, including a cape-clad runner and a witch figure, contrast with the rigorous geometry and the immaculate white of a contemporary school.
About this photograph
Life unfolds dramatically and subtly in this scene rigorously framed by shadows. Photographed in 2020 at the Escola de São Bernardo, a project of pure lines designed by ARTE TECTóNiCA studio, this piece transcends architectural documentation to become a visual narrative about childhood and movement.
Observe the stark contrast that defines the image. The heavy black frame of the foreground creates a perfect stage where the children transform into dynamic silhouettes. Against the immaculate white of the facade, punctuated by the four symmetrical windows, we see the pure joy of playtime. One can identify the running silhouette with a flowing cape, the determined pose of someone wearing a witch's hat, and the spontaneous movement of several students.
It is a frozen instant that celebrates the vitality that fills and gives meaning to contemporary educational architecture. Perfect for bringing energy, mystery, and a touch of innocent joy to any space.
