A requalificação da Praça do Município de Ribeira de Pena, da autoria do atelier AXR - Arquitectura e Design, foi distinguida com o 3.º lugar no Prémio ArchDaily Brasil Obra do Ano 2025 — uma das maiores distinções atribuídas à arquitetura em língua portuguesa.
Este reconhecimento, promovido pela ArchDaily Brasil, envolveu mais de 700 projetos nomeados e 25 mil votos. A praça destaca-se pela sua capacidade de reconfigurar o espaço público como ponto de encontro, memória e vivência coletiva. Um projeto que cruza o desenho urbano com o cuidado pela escala humana — e que se vê agora premiado por uma comunidade global.
O projeto foi fotografado pelo Ivo Tavares, numa colaboração que procura contribuir para a valorização e visibilidade da arquitetura portuguesa, tanto em território nacional como além-fronteiras.
The redevelopment of the Praça do Município in Ribeira de Pena, designed by the AXR - Arquitectura e Design studio, was awarded 3rd place in the ArchDaily Brasil Building of the Year Award 2025 — one of the most prestigious distinctions in Portuguese-language architecture.
This recognition, promoted by ArchDaily Brasil, involved over 700 nominated projects and 25,000 votes. The square stands out for its ability to reconfigure public space as a place of gathering, memory, and collective experience. A project that combines urban design with care for the human scale — now celebrated by a global community.
The project was photographed by Ivo Tavares, in a collaboration that seeks to contribute to the appreciation and visibility of Portuguese architecture, both nationally and internationally.

A arquitetura portuguesa continua a ser valorizada no panorama nacional. O Parque Urbano de Gondomar, projeto do atelier Paulo Merlini Architects, foi recentemente distinguido com dois importantes prémios em Portugal: o Grande Prémio da Rede de Cidades e Vilas que Caminham e o 1.º Prémio na categoria “Desenho de Novo Espaço Público”.
Estes reconhecimentos reforçam a relevância do projeto no contexto da mobilidade sustentável e da criação de espaços urbanos que promovem uma vivência mais saudável, acessível e integrada com o meio envolvente. O Parque Urbano de Gondomar destaca-se pela forma como combina natureza, percurso pedonal e espaço público num desenho contemporâneo e profundamente humano.
O Grande Prémio da Rede de Cidades e Vilas que Caminham celebra boas práticas na promoção da mobilidade a pé, enquanto o Prémio de Desenho de Novo Espaço Público valoriza intervenções urbanas inovadoras que melhoram a qualidade de vida nos centros urbanos.
Com este duplo reconhecimento, o projeto consolida-se como uma referência na arquitetura e no urbanismo português contemporâneo.
Portuguese architecture continues to gain national recognition. Gondomar Urban Park, designed by Paulo Merlini Architects, has recently been awarded two major national prizes: the Grand Prize from the Network of Cities and Towns that Walk, and the 1st Prize for “Design of a New Public Space.”
These awards highlight the project's importance in promoting sustainable mobility and in creating urban spaces that foster healthier, more accessible lifestyles in harmony with the natural environment. Gondomar Urban Park stands out for its sensitive integration of nature, pedestrian paths, and public space within a contemporary and human-centered design.
The Grand Prize from the Network of Cities and Towns that Walk celebrates best practices in walkability and pedestrian-friendly planning, while the Design of a New Public Space Prize recognizes innovative urban interventions that enhance quality of life within Portuguese cities.
With this double recognition, the project affirms its place as a landmark in contemporary Portuguese architecture and urbanism.

É com grande satisfação que vejo dois projetos que fotografei entre os 15 finalistas do Prémio ArchDaily Brasil Obra do Ano 2025: O Edifício A'MAR do atelier de arquitetura REM'A Arquitectos e a Requalificação da Praça do Município de Ribeira de Pena do atelier AXR - Arquitetura e Design. Este reconhecimento é resultado de uma votação aberta, onde leitores de todo o mundo selecionaram as obras mais marcantes da arquitetura lusófona contemporânea.
O prêmio, promovido pelo ArchDaily Brasil, destaca projetos construídos em países de língua portuguesa, valorizando a criatividade, a inovação e a relevância arquitetónica. A votação final decorre até ao dia 9 de abril, e o projeto vencedor será anunciado no dia seguinte.
Ver o meu trabalho de fotografia de arquitetura associado a projetos finalistas é motivo de orgulho. It is with great satisfaction that I see two projects I photographed among the 15 finalists for the ArchDaily Brazil Work of the Year 2025 Award: The A'MAR Building by the architecture studio REM'A Arquitectos and the Redevelopment of the Ribeira de Pena Town Square by the studio AXR - Arquitetura e Design. This recognition results from an open vote, where readers from all over the world selected the most outstanding works of contemporary Portuguese-speaking architecture.
The award, promoted by ArchDaily Brazil, highlights built projects in Portuguese-speaking countries, valuing creativity, innovation, and architectural relevance. The final voting runs until April 9, and the winning project will be announced the following day.
Seeing my architectural photography work associated with finalist projects is a source of pride. Photography plays a crucial role in architectural communication, capturing the essence and intent of each work. Knowing that these images help bring visibility to high-quality projects is, for me, a confirmation of the impact of my work.

Portuguese architect José Pedro Lima wins the Manuel Graça Dias, dst, Primeira Obra award
O arquiteto português José Pedro Lima foi distinguido com o Prémio Manuel Graça Dias, dst, Primeira Obra - Jovem arquitecto 2024-2025 , pela sua obra Pavilhão de Jardim. A cerimónia de entrega do prémio terá lugar no dia 29 de abril, às 17h, no Auditório Domingos da Silva Teixeira, em Braga.
O Prémio Manuel Graça Dias tem como objetivo reconhecer e incentivar a qualidade da arquitetura produzida por arquitetos com formação recente, valorizando a criatividade, boas práticas construtivas e considerações ambientais. A iniciativa é promovida pela Ordem dos Arquitectos, com o patrocínio exclusivo da DST.
O Pavilhão de Jardim foi destacado pelo júri – composto pelos arquitetos Egas José Vieira (presidente), José Manuel Carvalho Araújo e Patrícia Rocha Leite – pela sua consistência, equilíbrio e maturidade enquanto primeira obra. O projeto propõe uma nova relação entre a habitação principal e o jardim, funcionando como um foyer que expande a sala para o exterior. A solução destaca-se pela audácia na introdução da cor e pela criação de um ambiente intimista e tranquilo.
Portuguese architect José Pedro Lima has been awarded the Manuel Graça Dias Award, dst, First Work - Young Architect 2024-2025 for his project Garden Pavilion. The award ceremony will take place on April 29 at 5:00 PM at the Domingos da Silva Teixeira Auditorium in Braga.
The Manuel Graça Dias Award aims to recognize and encourage the quality of architecture produced by recently trained architects, valuing creativity, good construction practices, and environmental considerations. The initiative is promoted by the Order of Architects, with the exclusive sponsorship of DST.
The Garden Pavilion was highlighted by the jury – composed of architects Egas José Vieira (president), José Manuel Carvalho Araújo, and Patrícia Rocha Leite – for its consistency, balance, and maturity as a first work. The project proposes a new relationship between the main house and the garden, functioning as a foyer that extends the living room to the outside. The solution stands out for its bold use of color and the creation of an intimate and tranquil atmosphere.

This recognition highlights the relevance and quality of contemporary architecture in Portuguese-speaking countries, and photography, as a key medium to communicate architecture, plays an essential role in valuing and projecting these works.

Villa Theatro vence Prémio Reabilita Braga 2024
Villa Theatro Wins Reabilita Braga 2024 Award
O edifício Villa Theatro, localizada na Av. da Liberdade, em Braga, foi distinguida com o 1.º Prémio do Prémio Municipal de Reabilitação Urbana – Reabilita Braga 24. A reabilitação de um edifício histórico, projetada pelos Arquitetos Aliados, foi reconhecida pela sua excelência e respeito pelo património urbano. A intervenção, levada a cabo por uma equipa multidisciplinar, é um marco na arquitetura de reabilitação em Braga.
Este prémio junta-se a uma menção honrosa recebida a nível nacional no ano passado e a várias publicações destacando a importância da obra.
The Villa Theatro project, located at Av. da Liberdade in Braga, won the 1st Prize at the Reabilita Braga 24 Municipal Urban Rehabilitation Award. The rehabilitation of this historic building, designed by Arquitetos Aliados, was recognized for its excellence and respect for urban heritage. The intervention, carried out by a multidisciplinary team, is a landmark in urban rehabilitation architecture in Braga.
This award adds to a national honorable mention received last year, as well as several publications highlighting the significance of the project.

Portuguese Architecture Awarded: Casa TT Wins João Álvaro Rocha Prize
A Casa TT, desenhada pelo arquiteto António do Fundo Ferreira, do atelier Adoff Arquitectos , foi uma das vencedoras da 2ª edição do Prémio Municipal de Arquitetura João Álvaro Rocha.
Este prémio celebra o melhor da arquitetura portuguesa, e a Casa TT destacou-se pela renovação realizada entre 2017 e 2018. O trabalho do arquiteto, em conjunto com o construtor Floriano dos Santos Alves, recebeu este reconhecimento pelo seu equilíbrio entre funcionalidade, design e respeito pelo património.
A Casa TT partilhou este prémio com outra obra, mas é mais uma prova de como a arquitetura portuguesa continua a surpreender e a deixar a sua marca.

Casa TT, designed by architect António do Fundo Ferreira, of Adoff Arquitectos atelier, was one of the winners of the 2nd edition of the João Álvaro Rocha Municipal Architecture Award.
This award celebrates the best of Portuguese architecture, and Casa TT stood out for its renovation carried out between 2017 and 2018. The architect's work, in collaboration with builder Floriano dos Santos Alves, received this recognition for its balance between functionality, design, and respect for heritage.
Casa TT shared this award with another project, but it is yet another testament to how Portuguese architecture continues to amaze and leave its mark.

Esta distinção integra a iniciativa “World Building of the Week”, que ao longo de 2024 destacou 40 edifícios de diferentes países, alternando entre entrevistas aos arquitetos e críticas de editores e colaboradores.
A votação está aberta ao público até ao dia 31 de janeiro de 2025, e o vencedor será anunciado no dia 4 de fevereiro, no site e na newsletter da World-Architects .

The project Boavista 339, by Paulo Merlini Architects, represents Portuguese architecture in the race for the “World Building of the Year” award, organized by World-Architects. This recognition is part of the “World Building of the Week” initiative, which throughout 2024 highlighted 40 buildings from different countries, alternating between interviews with architects and reviews by editors and contributors.

Every year the Archilovers, one of the largest social networks for architects, designers and architecture lovers, selects 1000 projects, assigning them an “ARCHILOVERS BEST PROJECTS” seal. The HospVet project has been awarded Third Place in the Healthcare / Wellness (Built) category at the 17th Edition of the RTF Awards - Global Architecture & Design Awards.
Designed by nonarquitetura, the project has gained international recognition for its innovation and impact in the healthcare and wellness sector.

O LOOP Design Awards 2024 reconheceu o talento de diversos ateliers portugueses, premiando seis projetos notáveis. O Atelier d'Arquitectura Lopes da Costa foi vencedor com a Interface de Transportes Lourosa–Fiães na categoria Architecture | Transportation e Steelform em Architecture | Industrial Buildings. Já o atelier Paulo Martins Arquitectura & Design destacou-se com a Casa do Parque em Renovations e Mercantel em Hospitality & Hotels.
Adicionalmente, o atelier Em Paralelo foi reconhecido com "Citation Winner" para a Unidade Industrial OROPOL em Industrial Buildings e Em paralelo to the balcony na categoria Offices. Esses prêmios refletem o compromisso dos ateliers em elevar a arquitetura portuguesa a nível nacional e internacional.
The LOOP Design Awards 2024 celebrated the talent of several Portuguese studios, honoring six standout projects. Atelier d'Arquitectura Lopes da Costa won in Architecture | Transportation with the Lourosa–Fiães Transportation Interface and in Architecture | Industrial Buildings with Steelform. Paulo Martins Arquitectura & Design was distinguished with Park House in Renovations and Mercantel in Hospitality & Hotels.
Additionally, Em Paralelo was awarded “Citation Winner” for the OROPOL Industrial Unit in Industrial Buildings and Em Paralelo to the Balcony in Offices. These awards underscore these studios' dedication to elevating Portuguese architecture both nationally and internationally.

Estamos entusiasmados em anunciar que dois projetos portugueses receberam menções honrosas nos prestigiados Architecture MasterPrize (AMP) 2024, que celebra a criatividade na arquitetura a nível mundial.
A Casa GD, do atelier adarq, foi distinguida na categoria Residential Architecture - Single Family pela sua inovação no design residencial. Já o projeto Hospvet, do atelier Nonarquitetura, foi reconhecido na categoria Healthcare / Wellness pela excelência no design de espaços de saúde.
We are excited to announce that two Portuguese projects have received honorable mentions at the prestigious Architecture MasterPrize (AMP) 2024, which celebrates creativity in architecture on a global scale.

Os projetos Interface de Transportes Lourosa–Fiães e Edifício Seashore, do Atelier d'Arquitectura Lopes da Costa, foram nomeados para os Archello Awards 2024 Longlist em categorias distintas. O primeiro concorre a Transportation Hub of the Year, destacando-se pela inovação nas infraestruturas de transporte, enquanto o segundo foi nomeado na categoria Housing Project of the Year - Mid Rise, valorizando o seu design moderno com vistas para o mar.
Ambos os projetos serão avaliados por um júri especializado, com os nomeados oficiais a serem anunciados em novembro de 2024.
The Interface de Transportes Lourosa–Fiães and Seashore Building projects, by Atelier d'Arquitectura Lopes da Costa, have been nominated for the Archello Awards 2024 Longlist in different categories. The first is competing for Transportation Hub of the Year, standing out for its innovation in transport infrastructure, while the second has been nominated in the Housing Project of the Year - Mid Rise category, praised for its modern design with sea views.
Both projects will be evaluated by a specialized jury, with the official nominees to be announced in November 2024.

Escadinhas Footpaths concebido pelo arquitecto Paulo Moreira e o colectivo de arte Verkron é um dos finalistas dos prémios FAD.
O projeto urbano nomeado para a categoria de "cidade e paisagem" conecta arquitectura arte e o meio natural, tornando caminhos esquecidos em vias vibrantes, cheias de cor que se destacam no meio da paisagem urbana.
Escadinhas Footpaths designed by the architect Paulo Moreira and the art collective Verkron is one of the finalists of FAD awards.
The urban project nominated for the "city and landscape" category connects art architecture and the natural environment, turning forgotten paths into vibrant, color-filled thoroughfares that stand out in the middle of the urban landscape.
